NZGTTA and DTTA PLD One Day Event - Kanohi ki te kanohi l Face to face.

Registration in STAC Chapel

Join NZGTTA and DTTA to explore pathways and the significant learning in Technology. These practical, hands-on workshops are designed to enable discussions about what the knowledge and learning could look like at each level. Plus, new learnings to support the refinement of learning and assessment programs for NCEA L1 subjects. This event is free and includes morning tea and lunch and will be held on Saturday 7th June from 8:30am to 4:30pm.

DVC - MORNING - Developing Designs

Developing designs in DVC Design development is the heart of DVC where students imagine, create, and refine designs that resonate with people’s needs. In this workshop we will focus on strengthening teaching approaches for design development. We’ll cover the DVC learning journey for Year 9 to Year 13, with a spotlight on Year 11 learning and AS92002 (Develop design ideas informed by consideration of people). We will cover: Progression of DVC learning from Y9-13 Teaching and learning underlying AS92002 (Develop design ideas informed by consideration of people) Extending these skills into Y12-13 (L2 and 3 standards) Through some hands-on activities and collaborative discussion, we'll explore visual techniques and design thinking approaches that help students to develop their designs successfully.

MPT - AFTERNOON - Materials Experimentation

Materials Experimentation In this hands-on workshop, you will explore different natural dyes for timber and yarn. Working with a starting brief, breakdown the concepts for teaching and learning, experiment with how dyes can be used to transform materials, and push the boundaries of colour. The focus is on experimentation; discover new methods and refine your process to achieve creative outcomes. This workshop is designed to support the teaching and learning connections, and possible student evidence towards MPT 92013, 1.2 standard. Connections to junior technology programmes for progression to senior MPT programmes will also be covered.

FOOD - MORNING - Materials and Techniques: What is evidence?

A mixture of practical and theory, this workshop is focused on helping teachers with evidence collection during a student's learning journey. Roll up your sleeves and participate in some hands-on learning through a range of practical activities. Record your evidence then use it to test against your attributes and further develop your specifications. Some practical ideas you can use to support students in your classroom and an opportunity to ask questions and make connections in your own teaching practice. This workshop is designed to support teaching and learning in MPT with particular connections to AS92013 (1.2) and AS92015 (1.4) as well as junior technology program links in a Food | Processing context. You will need your phone/iPad and the ability to download/upload. Please install Google Keep prior to the session and link it to you SCHOOL EMAIL. (Please email if you need help with this step)

Join Andrew Churches for this webinar discussing and exploring the AI framework developed alongside Chris Cormack, Kai Tahu, Kāti Māmoe, who guided us step by step to support schools in integrating artificial intelligence into teaching and learning. It was created through a wānanga with representatives from: NZGTTA, Catalyst IT, Apple, Google, Microsoft, Ministry of Education, University of Canterbury, St John’s College, Levin Intermediate School, Hillcrest High School, Teacher Development Aotearoa, AUT, Queen Margaret College, AcademyEx, IRCAI Fellow, Westlake Girls High School, Massey University. This framework provides a structured approach to understanding AI, its applications, and how it can be used effectively in education. There are also a wide variety of tools to support all stakeholders in education. In this presentation, DTTA will present the journey and framework and invite insights, feedback, and discussion. This is an opportunity to shape the future of AI in schools, ensuring the framework and tools to meet the diverse needs of teachers and learners across Aotearoa.
